Have you ever considered that money has energy and that energy affects you positively or negatively? Do you know what energy your money has? Money is a flow of energy, and where you receive it from and send it off to; well that energy is all part of you.
The Energy Flow
What does that mean? So, let’s start with the flow of money into your life. If you are receiving money from your job, and it’s a conscientious company that makes ‘green’ products, is very good to its employees and customers, and you feel good about the work you are doing – well that money is bringing positive energy into your life. (Mind you, you may view the positive or negative assets of a company different than another person, but I’m using examples that make sense to me.)
However, if you hate your job, the company is horrible to its people and to its customers – well that money is bringing negative energy into your life. Even if you are self-employed and doing work you love, you could still throw off the balance and energy of your income if you are too focused on the money and not enough on the quality of the product or service and what’s it’s providing others. Perhaps you stress about the number of clients you have day to day, or maybe you even short-change yourself and charge far too little for your services and are undervalued. All of these things can affect the energy of that money.
The bottom line is that if you feel good about the money coming to you (and where it’s coming from), and your clients feel that they are making a sound investment and are happy with what they are receiving; that is a very positive money exchange.
Positive Investments
The other side of this is when you chose to invest or spend your money. You are again giving your energy to that company or business. It represents who you are and what you believe in. How much do you think about this? How much research do you do into the businesses where you spend your money? Do you know if they are using child labor in foreign countries to produce their products? Are they harming the environment in their practices? Are they ethical and good to their employees and the world around them? Again, some may not care about these things, while others do, but again it does affect you. You are quite literally giving them a small piece of you with your investment or purchase.
So where are you spending your money? What are you promoting with it? Don’t you think it’s time you be a bit more aware and purposeful about that? Just remember that you are bringing that energy into your life with your purchase or investment, so make sure it’s good energy that aligns with you and your beliefs.
Your Checklist
An energy of money checklist for you:
- Where is your money coming from? Is the energy good energy or bad energy? What can you do to change that if needed? How can you bring good money/energy into your life?
- Where is your money going to? Look at everywhere you spend money regularly. Your grocery store, products, services (salon, vet, medical, dental, etc.) Ask them about the things that matter to you (are they environmentally friendly, do they give back to the community in some way, etc.). Do some research on them. Observe their practices and how they treat people (or animals). Decide to use the businesses that align with your beliefs and energy.
- Think about your general spending practices. How much thought do you give to them? If you consider that your money is energy, how do you feel about what is coming in and going out? Could you be a bit more thoughtful, intentional and purposeful with your money? What could you change to feel better about it?
- How do you feel about money in general? Do you see it as a form of exchange? Do you see it as a positive thing? If you have negative thoughts about money, you need to change that, as it could also bring negative money energy into your life. (see article “Was I Raised to be Poor?”)
Your Energy Flow
Money is really just a method and exchange of energy. When you look at it this way, it can hugely change your perspective on it, as well as how you handle both receiving it and spending it. What kind of energy are you bringing into your life and putting out into the world?
