As I sit here on Christmas Eve enjoying the quiet and thinking about my day, I am feeling rather happy and peaceful. I am sitting here by myself, with one of my dogs, as the other one had major surgery on her leg today and is at the Vet Hospital. While in past years this scene and the circumstances probably would have had me feeling really sad and sorry for myself, I realized how differently I’m viewing it this year, and how far I’ve come that way.
Seeing Things in a New Way
In the past I would have seen this situation as rather devastating. Yet another holiday alone, still not yet where I want to be in life, and to top it off – my dog Ella had to have surgery. For many, this could be a rather upsetting situation. In the past I may have sat here crying about it. And honestly, I did shed a few tears earlier today, but they were happy ones. Let me tell you why.
After I dropped Ella off bright and early today, and put the $3500 deposit down on her surgery bill, I realized something rather profound driving home. I suddenly saw things in a rather magical light. (Figuratively, but literally too. On a fully overcast winter day, suddenly a small hole opened in the clouds in front of me as I had this realization, and the sun shined through for a very brief few minutes.)
When Things get Clear
First off, I’ve been working on my abundance mindset and trusting that God has me (divinely guided surrender on all levels really). I’ve been working to let go of my worries and old beliefs around money (i.e. lack/poverty mentality). Mind you, I was already doing really well with it, but when Ella suddenly injured her leg and someone told me how much the surgery costs, I did get a little anxious. I wasn’t sure how I would pay for it.
But as soon as I let that go and relaxed, it came to me. And it was easy. And as I paid that $3500 bill today, I did so with gratitude, because not only did God align the money for me and made it easy, but because it didn’t affect my budget at all. It was a HUGE step in my abundance mindset today. I don’t pay bills that big usually, and it felt good to pay it with ease, and even joy and love in my heart. It felt like a new beginning for me!
New Beginnings
Second, I also saw that the surgery my dog was getting was actually rather perfect and huge for her as well. She injured her leg (partial cruciate ligament tear) years ago and has struggled with arthritis and stiffness. But now she tore it clean through and had to get surgery to stabilize the joint. The cool part is that the vet said it might make such a huge difference that she can get off all her pain meds that she has been on for years! Amazing! This will be life changing for her!
And to top it off, it takes 12 weeks of recovery/rehab, and guess what? We are moving to California in just over 12 weeks. So as the vet said, her timing was pretty perfect. And honestly, her new beginning (when she’ll be free to run and play again) is aligning perfectly with my (our) new beginning in California.
Best Christmas Ever
So as I sit here tonight, I am thinking about the magic of it all. How Ella and I both got some of the best Christmas presents ever. I moved fully into abundance mindset in a way I had been trying to do, thanks to her and her vet bill – LOL. And Ella gets a new start on strong new leg. Beautiful new beginnings. Strangely, it feels like the best Christmas ever. Because we are on our way to a better life. New starts. And happier times. Maybe playing frisbee on the beach too?
Look Deeper
I’m telling you all of this because sometimes it’s a matter of perspective and how you see things. But that’s also how you love better things into existence for yourself. You find the good in the moment. You find the positive. I’m kind of the queen of that. But that’s because there is a reason for everything. If you miss the reason, the meaning, the lesson – then you continue down the same road. But God is trying to get you on the path to better. Don’t miss your turn because you can’t see things in a new way, or follow your guidance to the lesson and learn.
It’s time you start to stop when big things happen, and figure out what you are being shown or taught. To stop yourself from freaking out or breaking down, and instead, ask God to show you why. And not in a “why me?!” way. To really look for the lesson, outside of victim mode. You may not see it right away, but difficult things (or challenging times) are usually a good sign. A turning point on your journey. A transformation or awakening. So put on your turn signal. Don’t miss the turn. Figure it out. You know what you are learning. You know where you need to grow or make changes. God won’t make it that hard, but you have to look for it. No more victim mode. No more unworthiness feelings. No more circling back through old fear and worries. It’s all happening for your highest good – always.
Time to Wake Up
For those who are regulars to my blog, you may be familiar with my story about when I was laid off from a job years ago. One of the best things that ever happened to me. Biggest wake up call ever. I was stuck in a pattern of sacrifice and unworthiness in my job. I was miserable. But I never even attempted to look for anything better. I sat in that job for several years, suffering. God was like, “enough already.” LOL. Seriously though. I cried for maybe an hour after I was laid off, and then realized I’d never have to do that awful job again and danced around my house and cheered. I thanked God for the wake-up call.
Mind you, it doesn’t all have to be a brutal wake-up call. I know there were LOTS of signs along the way nudging me to look for a new job, teaching me lessons, but did I pay attention? Nope. I hunkered down in my miserable state and fully invested in suffering. Seriously? Yeah, that is clearly not who I am anymore. LOL. But really, God will nudge you for a while, and then shove you a little when you don’t pay attention. Or kick you fully to the curb if needed. You didn’t come here to ride a merry go-round of misery. Get off the ride! LOL! You came to learn, and grow, and advance your soul. This is why everything that looks like a disaster in our life happens. It’s a wake-up call people. So wake up!
Recalculating Route
Where are you off path? Where are you stuck? What needs to change? What did you stop dreaming about or reaching for? What negative patterns do you need to work on getting out of? When did you quit prioritizing joy and happiness? What about love and a passion for life? Look at these things NOW so you don’t require a shake down. It may require some healing, some letting go of old beliefs or healing old wounds, but it’s all worth it. Profound changes can be made with a little effort and intention.
Keeping You on Path
Now I’m not saying that God wants you to suffer. Quite to the contrary. God would love for you to find your way on your journey and partake in all the best things in life. A life that you love. I’m just saying that you have guides and guardian angels, and their job is to keep you safe and on path – the path that YOU chose before you started your life. They will do what they can to see that you get there. They aren’t cruel – they don’t want you to suffer in any way, and they work with our soul on it.
Because sometimes what our mind wants and our soul needs are two different things. The soul will win eventually (if not in this lifetime, in a future one), as it should. Your human mind will retreat to old fears and wounds, old beliefs and suffering – all from your human past. Your mind will keep you from progressing if you don’t work to change it. It will draw in negative experiences and circumstances. But the soul knows your higher path. The soul knows the bigger picture and what you are meant to do, have and be in this lifetime. Your soul will work with your guides and angels to do their best to get you there. Wake-up calls included.
What do You Need to Change?
So starting today, look at the things in your life, and notice how you feel about it all. What do you feel nudged to do? Where do you feel off path? Ask for guidance on it all. Find your way back to your path before you require an intervention by the Divine. Make the required changes. Notice the lessons in every experience.
See things in a more positive light too. Because as it turns out, my dog tearing her cruciate ligament was not only an amazing lesson and catapulting moment in my abundance mindset (and felt like a new beginning that way), but it will also be a huge new beginning for her – hopefully bringing some youth and vitality (and a lot less pain) back to my almost 10 year old dog. It’s all rather magical really! But that’s only because I allowed myself to explore it all and see it that way, rather than resort to my old ways of thinking and being. It’s also confirmation for me that I’ve healed myself that way too.
Live a Life of Love
How about you? Isn’t it time you change the way you see your life and the things that happen to you? Isn’t it time to start following your heart and soul, and not your head? Stop blaming everyone and everything else, or even yourself, and start to see it all as growth and learning. To be more aware of the lessons and let them move you forward. Because it’s all leading you to a life of joy, passion and love. Life is pretty amazing when you get this. Because that’s what it’s all about. We never stop learning and growing on our journey. That’s why we’re here. Human University. You didn’t even know you were registered, did you?
The goal is to live life fully from the heart. In the flow of life. Divinely guided. Living from a place of love in every part of your life, and seeing the world through the eyes of love. No suffering needed. You’ve got this. You know your mission now. And you’ve aced a lot of lessons already. Keep going. Your heart will know the way…
