You know that you want to make changes in your life, you’ve even tried doing it, but to no avail. How can you find that great relationship? Why are you so miserable at work lately? What is the reason you can’t lose that 15 pounds you know you are capable of losing but can’t find the motivation? It all starts with self-love and your feelings of worthiness. If you can heal those, you will move forward in every other area. You will have more clarity, and the path will be shown. Things WILL get easier.
The Healing Journey
Healing is a big part of self-love, self-acceptance, feelings of worthiness, and also clearing out any deep-seated issues we have with love, self-worth, unforgiveness, anger, or even past-life issues. There is so much sometimes that we need to clear out, unpack, emote, and release to move forward. Where people get stuck is in the overwhelming idea of having to do this. So many people would rather stuff all the feelings down, or maybe just continue to stew in the victimhood or anger in their life. But where is that going to take you? Nowhere fast.
Letting Go of the Past
Have you ever heard it said that if you are stuck in anger or unforgiveness, the only person you are hurting is yourself? And truly, the only person you are holding back from a life of joy is also yourself. If nothing else, if there is someone you are upset with or resentful toward – you need to not only look at the lessons it taught you and what you learned about yourself and from your own mistakes – but you also have to trust that they will learn their own lessons through universal karma. You need to stop wishing people bad and sending out bad thoughts, because it’s like a mirror reflecting back at you. You will feel the pain of what you are putting out.
Regardless though of what you are feeling and whether or not you blame anyone for it, it’s time to own where you are at and start working on your own healing journey. You need to take the first steps on that path and start to surrender it all. Set your intentions to heal and rise up, ask for help, and surrender to your guidance.
Follow Your Guidance
I think we are all very different with our needs, desires and even openness about our ways of healing. Some may feel that going to a therapist or reading a book is the best solution, others are more into holistic avenues. There is no wrong way to do it, and if you follow your own gut, you will find what works best for you.
For me, I’ve been called to do different things at different times. Many times it’s been a book that has led me down a certain healing path, even doing sessions with the authors themselves (like with Ainslie MacLeod who does past life healing work). Other times I’ve felt drawn to or curious about a certain healing path or modality, or someone has suggested something to me that felt right.
Endless Options to Healing
There are so many ways you can find healing, and there is no right path or way of doing it. It’s going to be different for everyone. It takes time and there is no quick solution. I’ve done regular readings with a psychic who brings through messages from my guides, and it always makes me laugh because they have a list of things for me to work on every time.
Of course we all want to be done with the work and have the good stuff come to us, but honestly, the healing journey can be quite amazing and joyful in and of itself. I am always in awe of what I am able to unearth and let go of. And all in our own time, on our own clock. There is no rush. That’s the beauty of our journey through this life, and through our many lifetimes on this planet.
So as I mentioned, there are so many ways you can seek the healing you need. Some of them very conventional, and other ways very unconventional. It’s all going to depend on what you feel led to try. Let’s talk about some of the avenues I’ve explored, and you can see if any of them feel right to you.
Healing Options (this is NOT an all-inclusive list – that list could go on forever – but this is a start):
Dietary Changes– this could involve a number of options and avenues from cleanses to fasts, or just dietary changes like eliminating or limiting meat, sugar, dairy or glutens for example. Sometimes you might have to do a test and eliminate one thing for a month or so to see how you feel. Dietary healing may not eliminate old emotions, but it can help a body in distress sometimes, which can allow you some calm in which to deal with other life issues.
Yoga – Yoga can be quite amazing for the body, mind and spirit. While it stretches and strengthens your body, it is also cleansing, clearing, invigorating and relaxing. It is very much a meditation in motion. One time, after a yoga class, I went back to my car and looked in the mirror and realized one of my eyes had spontaneously released a whole string of a thick white substance while I was in a yoga class, and a lot of it! It was a little freaky looking to see this long white string coming from the inner corner of my eye, but I realized it probably cleared a portion of my always problematic sinuses. I used to be plagued by allergies, and itchy eyes, and the yoga was clearing some of that! Amazing!
Energy Healing – This can encompass so many different forms of healing. Many times the healers don’t even have exact names or descriptions for what they do. But some of it can be profound and undeniable. Reiki is a fairly well-known form of energy healing that is relatively easy to find, but the experience even from one practitioner to another can be drastically different. I’ve had reiki practitioners that I felt nothing with – others, I can feel actual pain leaving my body, old memories come up, and the tears start flowing. It will be clear to you when a healer is connecting with you and channeling the healing energy you need.
Eastern Medicine– There are many types of eastern medicine that might be healing to you from acupuncture to qigong, massage or herbal remedies. I have tried all of it at different points and do find them to be helpful and therapeutic. Most recently I have been doing some qigong watching Steven Washington videos, and have found that it feels good, especially when I’m feeling emotional, stressed, or overwhelmed. It can help me move and process that energy sometimes. These are all great ways to do just that.
Sound or Music Healing– I’ve listened to Crystal Bowls through Crystal Cadence, I’ve had people do toning with me, and other healers used music during our sessions that brought me to the perfect area that I needed to heal. I think music in general can be incredibly healing and therapeutic in many ways, but there are also so many ways that sound can heal us as well. I have also recently gone to a So Sound healing center and sat in their vibration/music chairs, and wow, that was a really healing experience as well! Even took away the cramps I had at the time!
Meditation– while this is very mainstream and you are probably wondering how this can heal you, it’s actually calming you and your mind to a point of being open to healing and guidance really. It can be healing in and of itself, but you also may not be able to find the calm and openness to receive healing unless you are already practicing that on your own time. So start to get into some form of meditation. Find what works for you. I’ve recently started Transcendental Meditation, which is practiced by Ellen, Oprah, and other very grounded yet spiritual folks, and I’ve had good success with it. I love that the Maharishi Yogi teaches that those random thoughts that come up aren’t anything to worry about. Thank goodness.
Crystals and Essential Oils – Crystals and essential oils all do carry a vibration – a vibration that does affect us. If we chose to bring these items into our space, carry them, diffuse them, wear them, etc – they can be quite healing. Earlier this year I asked a healer what oil she used on me, because something about it felt right to me. It was an oil that helped you to “find your purpose” or similar. I wore it every day and diffused it in my space, and my career path became clear to me! I knew clearly what I wanted to do and all the details of it. That oil helped bring me to that vibration. I was also carrying a specific crystal a friend told me she felt strongly I needed. I feel like it all assisted in getting me on my path.
Oracle and Tarot Cards– while the cards themselves may not be healing, the messages very well might be. I know they’ve answered many questions for me, put me clearly on my path, or just provided deeper clarity on something I felt stuck on. Personally, I prefer oracle cards myself, but it’s always best to choose decks that resonate with you. I love that many of them are available in an App form on your smart phone these days, so you can always have them with you. I usually chose a card in the morning and again before I go to sleep, and I take the messages very seriously – even journaling about it. It’s a great tool to receive clarity from your guides or the Divine.
Find What Works for YOU
I will stop here for now, as I truly could go on and on! Feel free to comment below as to what healing modalities have helped you, as well as to reach out if you have any questions. Some of these resources (or books for that matter) can be found online, but some healers only work in person and you may have to look in your local area. Make sure to get references, preferably from people you trust, and to always follow your gut. You will know what and who is truly helping you.
Don’t be surprised either if you feel drawn to jump from one practitioner to another, or perhaps don’t feel drawn to something anymore. If you have healed something, you may not need that particular person or modality anymore – or it just may not be resonating with you anymore. Honor that and be open to any other healing modalities. Just find the things that work for you at that time.
All the best to you on your healing journey!
